A Case of ulcerative colitis

Abstract

|
|
A case of ulcerative colitis which is known to be relatively rare in Korea is presented with review of the literatures.
The patient, 43 years old male, was admitted with chief complaints, of sudden chillness, fever, epigastric pain and jaundice. On the third hospital day, profuse and uncontrollable melena developed. In an exploratory laparotomy, multiple ulcerative lesions were found in the cecum and the diagnosis was confirmed as ulcerative colitis. The patient expired with recurrence of melena and peritonitis.
